REHABILITATION WORKS TO CLARENCE TOWN BRIDGE
Monday 7 September 2020 to Friday 23 October 2020
Vessel operators are advised that Transport for NSW (TfNSW) will be conducting major rehabilitation works to the Clarence Town Bridge over the Williams River between Monday 7 September and Friday 23 October 2020.
A commercial barge and work vessels will be in use under the bridge spans, including scaffolding and work platforms with works commencing on the northern span. There will be one bridge span closed to navigation and one channel open to marine traffic at all times at all times during the works between the above dates. The works area will be marked with day shapes and buoys.
Vessel operators are advised to exercise extreme caution when navigating in the vicinity of the works, to minimise wash and to travel at a speed of 4 knots or less when within 100 metres of the works, barges and vessels.
Transport for NSW advises:
- Persons within the vicinity of the works must comply with any directions given by a Boating Safety Officer or Police Officer in relation to the works or to marine safety. Failure to comply with any such direction is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.15A - Maximum Penalty $3,300.00).
- Vessels are required to maintain a safe distance and speed from the works and operators are reminded that the production of wash which impacts unreasonably on the works is an offence (Marine Safety Regulation 2016 – clause 11(2)) - Maximum Penalty $5,500.00)
