We thank the community and nearby residents for their patience while we worked.

Project information

The NSW Government is funding this project as part of its $300 million Urban Roads Pinch Point Program, which aims to reduce congestion and improve travel time on Sydney’s busiest corridors.

This intersection is known for the long queues of motorists on Marsden Road turning onto Elizabeth Drive. Road users try to skip these lines using dangerous manoeuvres which cause crashes and disrupt traffic flow towards.

Roads and Maritime is upgrading this ‘pinch point’ by widening Marsden Road to:

  • create a dedicated right turn lane improving traffic flow away from Liverpool
  • create a dedicated left turn lane improving traffic flow towards Liverpool
  • separate turning traffic to reduce risky moves by motorists improving safety and easing congestion for all road users using Elizabeth Drive.

We are also upgrading the pram ramp on Elizabeth Drive to improve pedestrian.

The key benefits to the community include:

  • Improving traffic flow through the intersection by separating left and right turn vehicles from Marsden Road onto Elizabeth Drive
  • Easing congestion through the intersection by reducing the number of crashes.

In May and June 2017 Roads and Maritime Services invited feedback on proposed intersection improvements at Elizabeth Drive and Marsden Road, Liverpool.

After considering all responses, we have decided not to change the proposed design. Please view or download the community consultation report (PDF, 607Kb) for more information.

We will be updating you on this project as work progresses, including informing you in advance about future work schedules and night work.
