The NSW Government has committed over $825 million to pinch point projects which ease congestion, reduce traffic delays and improve travel times on Sydney's major roads.
JUL 2019Work continuing
Roads and Maritime Services is upgrading the intersection of Elizabeth Drive and Marsden Road in Liverpool as part of our Pinch Point Program to reduce congestion, and improve traffic flow and safety.
For our final stage, work is continuing which includes adjusting traffic signals, upgrading stormwater drainage, demolishing existing footpaths and asphalting. For more information view our July 2019 project update (PDF, 211Kb).
We will be on site for up to five day and five night shifts a week between July and October 2019, excluding public holidays.
For this upcoming work we will be on site for up to 45 night and 45 day shifts between Monday 15 July and Monday 14 October 2019, weather permitting.
Our day work hours will be between 7am and 6pm from Monday to Friday and between 8am to 1pm on Saturday. Our night hours will be between 8pm and 6am from Sunday to Friday.
The NSW Government is funding this project as part of its $300 million Urban Roads Pinch Point Program, which aims to reduce congestion and improve travel time on Sydney’s busiest corridors.
Residents from Hinchinbrook and surrounding suburbs often experience congestion and long wait times at the Hoxton Park Road and Whitford Road intersection. Road users accessing the M7 or travelling west along Hoxton Park Road also experience delays because of congestion at this intersection.
To address this, Roads and Maritime is widening Hoxton Park Road and Whitford Road to:
- create a second dedicated right turn lane from Hoxton Park Road onto Whitford Road improving traffic flow for local residents
- allow turning to traffic to wait in dedicate lanes, rather than queuing along Hoxton Park Road, enabling westbound motorists to freely travel through the intersection.
With the Liverpool City Council we will be creating a second dedicated right turn lane from Whitford Road onto Hoxton Park Road westbound.
The key benefits to the community include:
- Improving traffic flow from Liverpool through the intersection by separating northbound motorists
- Lowering travel times to connect to the M7 Motorway
- Easing congestion for local residents needing to access Hoxton Park Road eastbound and westbound.
In December 2017 Roads and Maritime Services invited feedback on proposed intersection improvements at Hoxton Park Road and Whitford Road, Hinchinbrook.
After considering all responses, we have decided not to change the proposed design.
We will be updating you on this project as work progresses, including informing you in advance about future work schedules and night work.
