Roads and Maritime Services will carry out improvements on Moss Vale Road to provide a longer lasting and safer road.
OCT 2019Completion of slope repairs at Cambewarra Mountain
From Monday 2 December, Roads and Maritime Services will be carrying out essential tree removal to complete recent work on slope repairs and rock fall prevention on Moss Vale Road at Cambewarra Mountain.More information
For more information about this work and future improvements on Moss Vale Road, you can speak to our project team during a drop-in community information session on Wednesday 6 November between 5pm and 7pm at Kangaroo Valley Community Hall, 179 Moss Vale Road.
Essential slope stabilisation work carried out in August and September also requires the removal of a number of large trees, which must be done in day shifts for worker safety. Once tree removal has been completed the final stages of slope stabilisation work can get underway, including tightening rock fall mesh and rock bolts.
This work is essential to reduce the severity of rock falls onto Moss Vale Road.
Work will be carried out from 9am to 3pm between Monday 2 to Thursday 5 December and Monday 9 to Wednesday 11 December, weather permitting.
Moss Vale Road will be closed in both directions and detours will be in place for light vehicles via Tourist Road and Kangaroo Valley Road, adding 15 minutes to travel times.
Essential maintenance work will also be carried out on Moss Vale Road from Barfield Road to Kangaroo Valley Road on Cambewarra Mountain. The road will be closed for one night on Sunday 15 December between 8pm and 4am, weather permitting.
Detours will be in place for light vehicles via the Princes Highway and Kangaroo Valley Road, adding 20 minutes to travel times.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and to follow the directions of signs and traffic control.

Following a trial of night closures on Moss Vale Road last year, we invited the community to give feedback on preferred times for regular maintenance work.
We thank all those who took the time to respond to our survey. More than 100 responses were received from the community and motorists.
The majority of respondents (74 per cent) expressed a preference for night closures. A number of people requested work start later than 7pm, and in response future planned maintenance work will be carried out between 8pm and 4am.
If there is a significant amount of work which cannot be completed in these working hours, it might be necessary to extend the times or days of the closures.
If you would like further information about the results of the survey please contact the project office on (02) 4222 3217 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
