The NSW Government is upgrading roads around the Northern Beaches Hospital to increase capacity on the road network and improve access through the area.
The underpass will enable through traffic on Warringah Road to bypass three sets of traffic lights at Forest Way, Hilmer Street and Wakehurst Parkway and will provide customers with a better travel experience.
The underpass will occur over two weekends:
Saturday 28 March 2020 - open Warringah Road underpass eastbound and westbound lanes
Saturday 4 April 2020 - open Warringah Road underpass on ramp at Wakehurst Parkway
Road users on Warringah Road can avoid the Forest Way, Hilmer Street and Wakehurst Parkway intersections by using the underpass.
Drivers should decide early if they are taking the surface lanes or underpass to make ensure they are in the correct lane. Access to the Northern Beaches Hospital is via the surface lanes. Motorists heading to the hospital will be guided by the blue coloured service signs.
The following images show the lane arrangements for the surface lanes and underpass lanes. We have also written a FAQ for each map to help you to learn your way around the new traffic conditions.
