Roads and Maritime Services is planning and delivering the Pacific Highway upgrade between Narara and Ourimbah in stages.
The NSW Government invested $70 million for this section of the upgrade.
The concept design and review of environmental factors for the section of highway between Ourimbah Street, Lisarow and Glen Road, Ourimbah was displayed for community comment in June 2011.
In October 2011 the Review of Environmental Factors was determined and the project received approval to proceed.
The construction contract was awarded to Civil Mining & Construction Pty Ltd in February 2016.
The upgrade is shown on the project map and includes:
- Two lanes in each direction on the Pacific Highway
- New traffic lights with pedestrian crossing facilities at the Ourimbah Street, Teralba Street and Walmsley Road intersections
- A shared pedestrian and cycle path on the western side of the highway
- New bridges over Cut Rock Creek.
The upgrade will improve traffic flow and travel times for around 29,000 motorists travelling this 1.6 kilometre section of highway each day. It will also improve safety for motorists, pedestrians and road users.
