The NSW Government is funding essential maintenance for Rawsonville Bridge, west of Dubbo, to provide a stronger and longer lasting bridge.
JAN 2019Community feedback
Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the maintenance and proposed closure of Rawsonville Bridge.
The period for feedback extended from Monday 19 November 2018 and closed on Friday 14 December 2018. A community information session was held on 29 November 2018 at the Rawsonville Hall.
Roads and Maritime is now assessing the community feedback and will provide an update on the proposed maintenance work and impacts in early 2019.
Rawsonville Bridge, on Rawsonville Bridge Road west of Dubbo was built in 1916 and some parts of the bridge are in poor condition. Maintenance work has been conducted on the bridge over the past six months. Investigations have revealed the bridge pier foundations have deteriorated and two piers are required to be replaced to ensure the safe ongoing operation of the bridge. In order to carry out the work to replace the piers, Roads and Maritime Services is proposing to close the bridge for up to six months. During the closure, traffic would be diverted via Burraway Road which could add up to 20 minutes to a journey.
- Improved safety for road users
- Stronger, longer lasting bridge
- Reduced ongoing maintenance costs.
Roads and Maritime is assessing the community feedback and will provide an update on the proposed maintenance work and impacts in early 2019.
