OCT 2019Review of Environmental Factors (REF)

The Review of Environmental Factors (REF) is currently on display and we invite members of the public, residents and boating groups to send feedback to the project team at by 28 October 2019.

A hard copy of the REF will be available for viewing at the following locations:

  • Hurstville library,
12-22 Dora St, Hurstville NSW 2220 from 9.00am-9.00pm, Monday to Friday and 9.00am-4.00pm Saturday-Sunday
  • Roads and Maritime Services,
33 James Craig Road, Rozelle NSW 2039 from 9.00am-5.00pm Monday to Friday

We expect minimal traffic changes during construction, as much of the work will be conducted from the water. There will be trucks carrying equipment and supplies to and from the site that may cause a short-term increase in truck numbers in the area. Access to the waterway will not be significantly impacted.

Subject to the REF and other approvals, we are expecting to start the work in the first quarter of 2020.

Project information

The marina behind the Sans Souci Marine Centre is due to be replaced. The current marina is too small for joint occupation and operations of Roads and Maritime Services, NSW Police Marine Area Command and the Department of Primary Industries (Fisheries) (DPI) who all currently operate out of the Marine Centre. The current structures originated from the Sydney Olympic Games and are no longer fit for purpose, given the tides, currents and position of the marina.

The replacement marina will be capable of housing up to 13 boats belonging to all three agencies with additional room for six Personal Water Crafts(PWCs). The new facility will improve response times for each agency.
