The Princes Highway upgrade program is a series of projects to improve safety and efficiency on one of NSW's main routes.

Albion Park Rail bypass

The Albion Park Rail bypass will extend the M1 Princes Motorway between Yallah and Oak Flats to bypass Albion Park Rail. The project received planning approval from the Department of Planning and Environment in January 2018, with construction due to start in early 2019.

Princes Highway upgrade at Gerringong

Roads and Maritime Services officially opened the Princes Highway upgrade at Gerringong in August 2015. The upgrade provides 7.5 kilometres of upgraded highway between Mount Pleasant and Toolijooa Road and includes two new interchanges with access to Gerringong and Gerroa.

Foxground and Berry bypass

The Foxground and Berry bypass opened in November 2017. The bypass includes  a four-lane divided highway (two lanes in each direction) with median separation for 12.5 kilometres of the Princes Highway between Toolijooa Road and just south of Andersons Lane. The upgrade also includes a bypass of the existing winding highway at Foxground and a bypass of Berry with access ramps at the north and south of the town.

Berry to Bomaderry upgrade

Roads and Maritime Services plans to upgrade the Princes Highway between Berry and Bomaderry. The upgrade will provide around 10.5 kilometres of four-lane highway between Mullers Lane, Berry and Cambewarra Road, Bomaderry. Early work to relocate utility services and installing project boundary fencing is underway with major construction expected to begin in 2018.

Nowra Bridge project

Planning is underway for a new bridge that will improve conditions on the Princes Highway over the Shoalhaven River in Nowra. The NSW Government has invested $1.6 million, and the Federal Government has committed $10 million, to complete planning.

Termeil Creek upgrade

Roads and Maritime Services has completed the upgrade to the Princes Highway at Termeil Creek The project involved building a new wider bridge over Termeil Creek and realignment of approximately 1.6 kilometres of the Princes Highway to improve the curves north of the bridge. Construction was completed in mid 2016

Burrill Lake Bridge

Roads and Maritime Services opened the new Burrill Lake Bridge to traffic in late September 2017. Overall project completion is expected in early 2018, weather permitting.

Batemans Bay Bridge replacement project

Roads and Maritime Services is planning to replace the Batemans Bay Bridge to improve access to Batemans Bay and the surrounding areas, allow access for larger trucks, reduce traffic delays and improve the Kings and  Princes Highway intersection. A preferred option for the new bridge has been selected to the west of the existing bridge.

Major construction is expected to begin in early 2019.
