The NSW Government is funding this work as part of the $30 million Parramatta Congestion Improvement Program. The program aims to reduce congestion by upgrading key intersections around the Parramatta central business district.
DEC 2019Church Street exit ramp upgrade
The widening of the M4 Western Motorway’s Church Street exit ramp is now complete.More information
The exit ramp’s left lane has been extended to increase its capacity and an additional right-turn lane will now help more vehicles pass through the exit ramp with each traffic light phase. These upgrades will help reduce queuing on the M4 on its approach to the exit ramp.
You can view the media release announcing the new lanes.
Some additional work is still to be completed, including constructing a new maintenance bay on the exit ramp as well as new street lighting. Transport for NSW expects this work will be completed in early-2020.
Our night work hours will be between 6pm and 7am from Sunday to Friday. Our day work hours will be between 7am and 6pm from Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays. We will not work public holidays.

The NSW Government has committed $30 million to the Parramatta Congestion Improvement Program. It aims to reduce congestion in Parramatta and surrounding areas by upgrading key intersections.
The upgrade of the Woodville Road, Parramatta Road and Church Street intersection (including the M4 off-ramp) at Granville has been identified as crucial in managing increasing traffic demand and improving traffic flow around the Parramatta CBD.
The improvements will serve future traffic and transport needs of the Parramatta CBD by reducing queue lengths, and easing congestion at the Woodville Road, Parramatta Road and Church Street intersection.
The first stage of the project involves creating new lanes on the M4 off-ramp at Church Street. This will improve safety as well as reduce congestion and queuing on the motorway. The upgrade is expected to be completed in December 2019, weather permitting.
The project will:
- ease congestion and improve safety on the M4 by increasing the off-ramp’s capacity
- increase efficiency by allowing more vehicles to clear the intersection with each traffic signal phase
- improve traffic flow from the M4 off-ramp towards Church Street and Woodville and Parramatta roads.
We will continue to keep the community informed as the project progresses.
