DEC 2019Church Street exit ramp upgrade
The widening of the M4 Western Motorway’s Church Street exit ramp is now complete.More information
The exit ramp’s left lane has been extended to increase its capacity and an additional right-turn lane will now help more vehicles pass through the exit ramp with each traffic light phase. These upgrades will help reduce queuing on the M4 on its approach to the exit ramp.
You can view the media release announcing the new lanes.
Some additional work is still to be completed, including constructing a new maintenance bay on the exit ramp as well as new street lighting. Transport for NSW expects this work will be completed in early-2020.
Our night work hours will be between 6pm and 7am from Sunday to Friday. Our day work hours will be between 7am and 6pm from Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays. We will not work public holidays.
To find out more about this project view the August 2019 project update (PDF, 358Kb).
Funding for the project is coming from the Australian and NSW governments. The Australian Government funding is part of an initiative delivers projects that can get underway now and over the next six months, providing an immediate boost to the economy and local jobs.
The NSW Government has come from the $30 million Parramatta Congestion Improvement Program, which aims to reduce congestion in Parramatta and surrounding areas by upgrading key intersections.
The upgrade of the Woodville Road, Parramatta Road and Church Street intersection (including the M4 off-ramp) at Granville has been identified as crucial in managing increasing traffic demand and improving traffic flow around the Parramatta CBD.
The improvements will serve future traffic and transport needs of the Parramatta CBD by reducing queue lengths, and easing congestion at the Woodville Road, Parramatta Road and Church Street intersection.
The project will:
- increase efficiency by allowing more vehicles to clear the intersection with each traffic signal phase
- improve traffic flow from the M4 off-ramp towards Church Street and Woodville and Parramatta roads.
We will continue to keep the community informed as the project progresses.
