Snowy Mountains Update
Due to the impacts of COVID-19, on resort capacity, Kosciuszko National Park has restrictions this snow season.
Please do not come to the Snowy Mountains for tobogganing and snow play in 2020.
Tobogganing, sledding and snow-tubing is not permitted within Kosciuszko National Park and the resorts in 2020.
During peak visitation periods such as weekends there will be roadblocks installed to manage visitor safety toward Thredbo and Perisher. Visitors attempting to enter during these periods for the purpose of snow play or tobogganing will be denied access. Visitors entering for sports such as skiing, snowboarding, or backcountry activities like cross country skiing and snow shoeing will require evidence of a pre-purchased resort lift pass or registration with NPWS in advance, via a Trip Intention Form. Visitors arriving to access accommodation, a campsite booking, a place of work or residence, or other essential reasons will be granted access with appropriate evidence such as a booking confirmation. Motorists can transit through the Alpine Way to Khancoban and beyond.
Please do not stop on the side of the road in the snowfields, it is not a safe place to play with your family in the snow.

Distinctively windy with snow and ice in the winter, high tourism traffic volumes and heavy vehicle usage all year around, the Snowy Mountains Highway, Kosciuszko Rd and Alpine Way is a unique region with a diverse range of road users.
With Transport for NSW funding $6 million of projects in the Snowy Mountains and increased heavy vehicle activity from Snowy 2.0 sharing the road in the Snowys has never been more important.
